These are so-called Chinese soft-shelled turtles. They are really too impatient to wait for being freed during chanting by Rinpoche.
This little turtle seemed reluctant to return to sea. Wondering why it turned back several times after being released again?
Wow, I was really astounded with such great number of eels inside the pail while finished tearing off the black plastic bag. I was told that these creatures are normally cooked together with rice and served as UNAGI-DON in Japanese restaurant. OMG #_*

Hey, hapygreen :) Nice to know that you joined this 放生大法会~ The intention of this campaign is really good, but i heard something bad about this... There have a group of catchers, their job is catch back turtles, sea snakes, birds and sell these victims to us back!! We let the poor animals go then they get caught again and endless let and caught... I hope you get what i mean, hehe^^

Hmm...Regarding the questions sounded out by FoxCheng, i did address the same worries (as recorded in my first topic). Therefore, i considered ongoing actions of promoting and practicing vegetarianism to be the radical way of saving life. However, the major drawback would be of the time factor. ^^
The turtle so cute~~
Mm... a very touching story. Well, it shows that "life releasing" has a certain "good" effect on human mind. It draws a human to cultivate kind heart and to respect other living beings. It is proven on this little kid. He was able to tranform the "attachment" on the little creature (an emotion that is not much beneficial to us) to a kindness that might cause him to walk towards the bright path and also to save people and the world in his future. As why the creature seemed to run away from the river, this we have to investigate deeper. It is possible that the creature was used to the previous living environment he had in the boy's home. So it takes some time for him to get used to the new environment of the "river". We are not supposed to make early conclusion without further deep investigation that the creature might die in the river. If the creature does not live in sea, that means the river is the place he lives, because there are only 2 types of water on earth. (ocean and water on lands) To be certain whether the creature might live or die, we should study deep in animals to make our final assumption. However, it is wise to take precautious steps to make sure all the animals being released able to stay alive in the new environments. Actually, I am quite moved with the posts in this blog. This place might become a platform to share many good thoughts, good knowledge, and good deeds that might help each other on the path of human life. Cheers for that!
